baby {showered}

We have definitely reached the time in our lives where the theme is BABIES.

Let me tell you how exciting that is for me. With a 4 year old on my hands, it's SO MUCH FUN to have girlfriends having babies...and more babies...and then let's add a few more.
Carissa is due the day after Finster's first birthday. With a boy. A boy that will be named Cohen {I know, how CUTE!}
This weekend Darcy, Liz and I threw a shower for her...and it couldn't have been more fun. Let me tell you - this little man is going to be more showered than he knows :)
Here's me and the guest of honor...

The decor....{thanks, Jess for the idea and the hard work!}

The theme was all about the Little Man. Ties, mustaches, the works.

Oh yeah - and some of the girls asked where to get the little lovie with his name on it...you can find one here.

And here's who we've been referring to as "Preggers". I couldn't elaborate at the time since Amanda wasn't very far along, but I can say how excited we are to have TWO babies on the way!

A little prop action...

All of the ladies

We can't wait to meet you, Little Cohen!!

the cutest monsters you ever did see

So, we all know my sister is creative, right??? Right. I reap all benefits from her creativeness. Seriously. So when she suggested we share Beckett and Jackson's birthdays this year?? Done and done. Benefit reaped again. I provide the clean house and food, she provides the cute stuff.
For reals.
I'm pretty sure she concocted up the Monster theme far before she suggested we have their party together...but it was adorable as always. Plus, aren't they the two cutest monsters you've seen?? Maybe I'm a bit bias...

{the hoversons}

And I'm pretty sure after this was taken Jess said "Yep, it looks like Jacks is choking Fin". Ah, the joys of trying to get a good photo.

And here's some party randomness. We really always have such a fun time at our parties, but it was definitely nice to combine them. I just {ahem} can't wait to see what she has up her sleeve for next year! :) {and yes, she's picked the theme!} Hee hee.

cutie patooties

I mean, REALLY how cute are these babies??
Oh yeah - and B too, of course :)

Already on their way to Parker's room...I smell TROUBLE in a couple of years!

twins!

And NO - not as in I'm having twins.... God has spared me thus far :)
Saturday night we headed to the Twins game compliments of Brad's company.
We decided it was the perfect time to bring the kiddos - then even if we only made it through two innings, it would still be worth it! We even brought our "nanny" Kara along!

Getting ready for the game!

{Our Summer Family}

Who doesn't love cotton candy!?

Going.............................Going.........................Almost Gone
Even the Finster got in on the action. Baby has her Mama's sweet tooth, poor thing.

Jacks taking his turn hanging on Kirby. I think he's got the toe point down pat!

And this baby gal was definitely the most complimented of the group. She was SO HAPPY during the whole game. I put her on a chair by herself, and she just danced and smiled up the crowd behind her. There were even ladies taking her picture. Nothing like giving her a big head already!

Throw a mini skirt and flower on a girl in Twins gear, and it's bound to be cute! :)

Both of the kiddos actually did great - we even made it through the Seventh Inning Stretch!

I don't think I actually watched any of the game with one eye on each of them, but it was still fun to bring them along :P

Crazy, Crazy Boy

Last week Jack wanted to go outside and play with his slip-N-slide, but there was a certain dad who was forced into trying it and he put a hole in it. Apparently, they are not joking when they put a weight restriction on it!

Oh well, I found a new fun game for Jack to play until we are able to replace it!

What a character!

youch

First of all, I don't understand why this won't let me post as myself. B puts up one post and it is forever signed in as him I guess! :)
Ah, yes...the weekend. Aside from the very FUN things that happened this weekend, there was certainly a tragedy. And I am clearly using that word lightly since I KNOW in the grand scheme of things, they could be so much worse.
Jacks decided to catch himself with his teeth this weekend. On our basement floor. Although our basement is unfinished, it does have a very thin carpet to keep it warmer. That thin carpet, as it turns out, doesn't break a fall very well.
His tooth was pretty loose. We kept telling him not to touch it in hopes that it would tighten itself back up {enter bad Mom moment}.
The next morning when he woke up, he cried because it hurt so bad, would barely let us SEE it, much less touch it. His gums were really swollen, and when he smiled it actually stuck out from his lips. Although it was hard not to giggle when we saw it, we knew we had to call.
Our dentist, bless her heart, was getting married the next day and STILL came in to see him. After mucho gas and novicaine, his first (and hopefully only!?) oral surgery was over. He was a total champ and felt great afterwards right away. The dentist said he could have ice cream for lunch, and since he hadn't learned how to eat with his new mouth, he kept spraying the table when we laughed, it was pretty funny!
I took pictures when we were at the dentist...not becuase I am a mean Mom, but I wanted to remember even the hard days.
Here is a picture of his x-ray. As you can see, every time I wiggled his tooth to see if it had "tightened up" I was actually exposing his little nerve since the tooth itself was shattered into three different places. Luckily, the permanent teeth are totally fine - WHEW!

Here is how he smiled Sunday morning - we KNEW something was up :) And now you understand why it was hard not to giggle!

Little gas man...

SUCH a trooper.

I will post a picture later today of how his smile turned out. Since I took it on my other camera I don't have it with me right now...but lets just say his aunt (who shall remain nameless) suggested he be a hillbilly for Halloween this year. I think he'll have to be that for the next three or four years considering it will take that long to grow a new one in!
{note}
I really do know that this is not the worst thing that can happen to a kid...we are so fortunate that he's healthy. It's just that now everyone will know how full our hands are just by looking :)

Is It Monday Yet?

Friday - Was Jack's last day of vacation bible school, I had a half day of work, lunch date with Rach and Jack, washed the car, dinner at Captain Jack's with the sisters, boating on Prior till dark, then on for drinks at our house till 3am.

Saturday - Both kiddos were up too early for us (anything earlier than 10am would have been earlier, but 6am!?), Jack takes a fall in our basement hitting his head/face, hung out with the neighbors outside in the pools and sprinklers from 2 till bedtime, grilled pork chops, drank a few too many and had a bonfire till 12.

Sunday - kiddos were up a bit too early again, made an 8:30am call to the dentist for an emergency tooth extraction for Jack at 9:30, played with Jayden and Miya at the Arbertum, followed by swimming lessons, tacos and a bath! Now we plan to try and finish the movie we started earlier this week.

Knowing Rachel, I think there will be about 4-5 blog post ideas from this weekend!

tuckered out

You would think after taking a walk in 90% humidity that I would be the one that was tired...
Apparently my kids didn't get the memo.
And no - this is not a double stroller.
Jacks decided that it was simply too hot for him to walk, so he hopped in the basket.
I guess at least the stroller has killer storage!

My little sleeping beauties.

learning to share

What is baby gal reaching for you may ask??

Her Big Brother's push-up, that's what.

And doesn't he seem so eager to share with her?? I didn't think so either.

"FINE...I'll do it...but JUST ONE BITE, Fin. FINNNNN! ONE BITE!"

Pretty much a normal occurrence in our house when sweets are involved.

surprise getaway

Summer around here is beautiful.
Summer around here is also CRAZY.
Work gets busier...weekends get booked...kids need to play outside.
I decided I was going to take a weekend for just the two of us.
JUST THE TWO OF US. That sounds foreign.
Even if we leave the kids behind for a night, we're typically joined by our besties.
Not this time. This time it was just the two of us.
I had been planning this trip for a while. All without Brad having any knowledge of it.
I can't even tell you what a feat that was.
Everyone knew about the surprise. My parents graciously took our kids for the weekend - so the plan was to just tell Brad we were going to the farm. Then he started asking questions - why are we planning to go out so early?
Ummmm...my Dad was having a surprise party for my Mom??
Yeah, not a very good excuse, but I guess it worked.
Like I said - everyone was in on it. Jess and her family were even up north for the week, but she called and left the most ridiculous message asking what time we were going to meet them, what our plan was for once we got out there, blah blah. Man I love that girl...she knows how to play along.
When we got to the farm, I told Jacks while we were still in the car that we were leaving Fin and him there, and Mommy and Daddy had somewhere else to go this weekend.
{To which Brad PROMPTLY turned his head around and said huh??}
Perfect. Exactly the reaction I knew he would have.
We travelled to Brainerd.
No - it wasn't a far away land, it wasn't anything unmanageable or anything, but it was NEEDED, and UNEXPECTED, and that was the point...
Just a getaway...just a weekend...just the two of us.
I'm pretty sure 3 minutes after we checked in we were already sitting by the water...

We went out for a late dinner and too many drinks to count. Without the worry of having to wake up at 5:00am to babies!

We read books in the sun on the beach ALL DAY on Saturday.

We talked uninterrupted for more hours I think than we have COMBINED since Finley was born.

We had a very laid back dinner on Saturday night.

We stopped for ice cream...
OK, Brad stopped for ice cream.
Me and my sweet tooth stopped for salt water taffy.
And I do believe my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

I had even bought two books for the car ride. They were so much fun.
Random questions that you may or may not know about your spouse.
We laughed and laughed at some of the responses.

JUST what this couple needed for a re-charge.

Although, when we pulled into the driveway of the farm...I couldn't have been more excited to see my little chickadees.

{the farm, taken on B's phone....and yes, those are my feet on the dash..the only way to truly enjoy a road trip}

time warp

I'm no scientist. I'm no Doc from Back to the Future. I'm not exactly sure how this time travel thing works...
What I do know is someone decided to fast forward through the last four years.
That little tiny baby I took home from the hospital...
That little man that was excruciatingly late to come into the world...
The one that had to wear preemie clothes for the first month of his life...
He is all of the sudden HUGE and TALL and FOUR YEARS OLD. Holy Hannah. FOUR.
I don't know why I feel like that's getting so old. My friend Gina told me the other day he will never be a toddler again.
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?? :)

{Jackson Pete, 3 days old}

{One year old} {two}
{three}
{almost four - last weekend}
Happy Birthday, Little Petey. The day you've been talking about for WEEKS is finally here!

Here's to hoping FOUR is YOUR YEAR TO SHINE.
